Sharing the roots of her lineage the Mai-I and Hebrew people along with deep reverence and reciprocity for the teachings and practices of her plant teachers, Oriental Medicine Masters, Indigenous elders and medicine keepers of the Matses, Quechua, Shipibo, Huin Kuin, Yawananwa, Toltecca of the Mayan Peninsula and Hopi and Navajo First Nation cultures. Her passion for working with plants and indigenous cultures compliments her acupuncture journey.
Dr. Tasha obtained a Doctorate and Masters degree in Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, CA. She holds a Bachelor of Science from UNLV with a minor in Fine Art. She obtained additional training in Japanese Acupuncture and Kampo Herbalism, Facial Acupuncture, Microneedling, Nanoneedling, Pediatrics, and also did her doctoral research project in scalp acupuncture for behavioral disorders including Autism, ADHD, bipolar, depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. She answered the call to Kambo and traveled to Mexico to sit in medicine ceremony learning from the frog and her dear curanderas.
Her first encounter with natural medicine occurred when she suffered from malaria as a child while living in the Philippines. She was treated with herbs applied directly to sores on her skin, acupuncture, and drank an bitter herbal tea decoction prepared by her Tita Alice. Once the ailment was cured, Tasha's passion for herbal medicine was sparked. Fast forward to her twenties, Tasha began to suffer from migraines and acne while living in Seattle and a weekly effort with acupuncture provided migraine relief and clear skin.
As life went on Tasha sought out acupuncture again pre and post knee and shoulder reconstruction, allowing her to avoid taking any opiate pain medications and quickening her recovery time. Further into her late 30's she again leaned on acupuncture and herbal medicine while trying to conceive after having cervical cancer. Doctors told her she would never have a baby, but after two months of weekly treatments at her school clinic, she became pregnant. She carried her baby to 41 weeks and 6 days and even had a natural labor induction with acupuncture and moxibustion, and home water birth. She continued to partner with acupuncture to heal after her pregnancy, helping her to regain her strength, lose baby weight naturally, support lactation and to help cope with the stresses of finishing grad school with a new born in tow. To this day, Dr. Tasha still gets weekly acupuncture treatments to improve her overall wellness and to boost her immune system.
Tasha is a living testament to what can be possible when your body's own healing processes are activated and supported through acupuncture and herbal medicine. Her wish is to partner with her patients so they may access their own personal healing potentials without the use (or less use) of pharmaceuticals and surgical interventions. She empowers her patients to trust in their own bodies capacity to heal themselves.
